Tamil Nadu politics: BJP criticizes Vijay's by-election campaigning

Political tensions are rising in Tamil Nadu as leaders debate the campaigning intensity of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay during ongoing by-elections.

BJP State President Nayinar Nagendran criticized Vijay, claiming his intensive campaigning in specific constituencies, such as Madurantakam and Dharapuram, is driven by a fear of defeat. Nagendran noted that while Vijay campaigned in only 8 or 9 locations during the previous general assembly elections, he is now visiting 39 locations within a single constituency for the by-elections.

Conversely, supporters of Vijay argue that his direct, street-level engagement with voters is a sign of democratic respect rather than fear. They suggest that the staggered nature of the by-elections, rather than simultaneous voting across all seats, has provided a strategic advantage for his party's outreach efforts.
