Tamil Nadu SLBC meeting reviews banking sector performance
The 187th State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) meeting for Tamil Nadu was held in Chennai on September 24, 2026. The session focused on reviewing the state's banking sector performance as of June 2026, specifically regarding credit flow, financial inclusion, and the implementation of government-sponsored schemes.
During the meeting, M. A. Siddique, the Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) for the Government of Tamil Nadu, called for increased disbursement of Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loans, dairy loans, agri-infrastructure, and food processing loans. He also emphasized the need for banks to support MSMEs by creating model projects and providing guidance to new entrepreneurs.
The committee reviewed bank performance across several priority sectors, including agriculture, MSMEs, education, and housing. Attendees included senior officials from the Reserve Bank of India, NABARD, and various member banks.
