Tamil Nadu: Two young boys die in separate electrocution incidents
Two separate electrocution incidents involving minors occurred in Tamil Nadu on Saturday, September 5.
In Mylapore, Chennai, an 18-year-old college student identified as A Jayachandran died after touching a municipal street light pole while crossing a road divider. The student, a resident of Tiruvannamalai, was returning to his government hostel in the early hours of the morning when the shock occurred. He was rushed to the Royapettah Government Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
In a second incident in Gummidipoondi, a 12-year-old Class 6 student named Kaushik was electrocuted while playing with friends inside the Gummidipoondi Government Hospital campus. The boy reportedly touched a high-mast light pole, causing him to collapse. Following the incident, relatives of the deceased protested at the hospital, alleging electrical leakage and negligence by staff. Police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations.
