Tamil Nadu wind power production rises 3.31% in five months

Wind power production in Tamil Nadu increased by 3.31 percent during the first five months of the current fiscal year. According to data from the Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Limited, the state produced 10,446 million units of wind energy between April 1 and August 31, compared to 10,122 million units during the same period last year.

Despite a slow start in the April-June quarter, which saw production declines of 7.8 percent in April, 27.2 percent in May, and 22.2 percent in June, a significant surge in July and August offset the initial losses. July production rose 11 percent to 3,401 million units, while August saw a 43 percent increase, reaching 3,444 million units. During August, daily production hit a record high of 142.430 million units.

Renewable energy companies have called on the state's Green Energy Corporation to implement policies that facilitate the addition of new wind and solar capacity. They emphasized that expansion should not be delayed while waiting for a separate policy regarding Battery Energy Storage Systems to be finalized.
