Tamil Nadu's Tambaram Corporation Launches Self‑Enumeration for 2027 Census
Tambaram City Municipal Corporation (TCMC) has begun the first phase of India's 2027 Census in Tamil Nadu by opening an online self‑enumeration portal. Residents can enter their household information between 17 July and 31 July using a mobile phone, tablet or computer and will receive an 11‑digit SE ID via SMS or email.
A house‑listing survey will start on 1 August, with 1,483 enumerators and 243 supervisors deployed to cover every residential and commercial building in the corporation's jurisdiction. The survey is organized into 1,483 blocks, each containing roughly 150‑200 families. Enumerators will verify the online data and collect details from households that did not register online. Officials have warned that providing false information or obstructing the survey is punishable under the Census Act.
The second phase, which involves the actual population count, is slated for February 2027 after the house‑listing and housing census are completed nationwide.
