Tamori’s TV Asahi Show Examines Japan’s Oil Industry in August 2026 Episode
On August 8, 2026, TV Asahi aired a special episode of “Tamori Station” titled “Japan and Oil – Frontline”. Host Tamori visited the domestic‑largest refinery in Yokohama, Kanagawa, and filmed the distillation process that turns crude oil into kerosene, diesel, naphtha and light gases.
The program highlighted the role of naphtha in plastics, cosmetics and food additives, noted recent shortages and price spikes, and featured guests actress Kimura Yoshino and Professor Matsukata Masahiko, president of the Oil Society and Waseda University faculty. It also examined Japan’s low oil self‑sufficiency (about 0.3 %), domestic oil fields, and the logistics of oil tankers.
