Tampa Bay Buccaneers and QB Baker Mayfield in stalled contract talks

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and quarterback Baker Mayfield have made no progress on a new contract as the offseason advances. According to ESPN commentator Jeremy Fowler, neither side is “sweating” the negotiations, noting that both parties have five weeks before training camp to resolve the issue. Former NFL general manager Tom Telesco said the likely salary will be north of $50 million per year, possibly around $53 million, comparable to other top quarterbacks. Mayfield’s current deal is $33 million APY and his deadline to reach an agreement is the start of training camp on July 28.
