Tampa Bay Buccaneers manage Bucky Irving workload

Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Zac Robinson has indicated that running back Bucky Irving is being managed on a “pitch count” to ensure his longevity throughout the season.

Following a Week 2 performance where Irving recorded 17 carries for 89 yards and saw a 78% snap share, Robinson noted that the coaching staff is mindful of wear and tear. Robinson stated that the team has multiple backs, including Josh Williams, and that decisions regarding workload are often based on the “flow of the game.”

Irving has exceeded early-season expectations, performing as a high-level fantasy asset. The potential for managed touches may increase the involvement of other running backs on the roster, such as Kenny Gainwell and Sean Tucker.
