Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Pittsburgh Steelers face injury hurdles ahead of Week 6

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing for their Week 6 matchup at Raymond James Stadium, with both teams managing significant injury concerns.

Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield is working to return from a thumb injury that has sidelined him for two games. Head coach Todd Bowles indicated that Mayfield would test his ability to grip and throw the ball during practice, though undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels is expected to start if Mayfield is not fully recovered. Daniels recently led the Buccaneers to a victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

Other notable Buccaneers injuries include safety Antoine Winfield Jr. (rib) and running back Sean Tucker (quad), both of whom did not participate in practice.

The Steelers face their own roster challenges. Running back Rico Dowdle returned to full practice for the first time in four weeks following a toe injury. However, defensive tackle Keeanu Benton was limited due to an ankle injury, and cornerback Jalen Ramsey continues to manage a wrist fracture. Strong safety DeShon Elliott remains on injured reserve but is nearing a return.
