Tampa Bay Buccaneers training camp hit by rain drills and player fights
Day 5 of the Buccaneers' 2026 training camp was marked by a monsoon‑like downpour that forced the team to move inside the AdventHealth Training Center. Coach Todd Bowles halted outdoor drills, and the squad completed a full‑pad session indoors, featuring limited contact, a focus on the run game, and the presence of former Super Bowl champions Playoff Lenny and Donovan Smith. NFL officials made their first appearance on the field, and rookie cornerback Keionte Scott was noted for a signature move.
On Day 6, the camp held its first night practice, again indoors. Several players remained sidelined, including left tackle Tristan Wirfs and defensive tackle Vita Vea, the latter amid a contract holdout. Wide receiver depth was thin, with injuries to Tez Johnson (groin strain) and David Sills (knee). The practice saw three fights erupt, two of which involved large groups of offensive and defensive players, prompting Bowles to call a team meeting to calm tempers.
