Tampa Bay Rays advance to World Series after defeating Cleveland Guardians

The Tampa Bay Rays have secured their third American League Pennant in franchise history by defeating the Cleveland Guardians in six games. After sweeping the New York Yankees in the ALDS, the Rays overcame losses in Games 1 and 3 of the ALCS to win three consecutive games and advance to the World Series.

The Rays are set to face the Milwaukee Brewers in a matchup between two teams seeking their first World Series championship. Designated hitter Yandy Diaz has been a key offensive contributor during the series; he is the sole remaining player from the Rays' previous pennant-winning roster in 2020.

Despite the team's postseason success, pitching ace Shane McClanahan will not participate in the World Series. Due to forearm fatigue and a history of significant arm injuries, including two Tommy John surgeries, the Rays opted to shut him down for the remainder of the season to prioritize his health for next year.
