Tampa Bay Rays aim to extend winning streak as they retire Evan Longoria's No. 3

The Tampa Bay Rays, leading the American League East and riding a power surge that has produced four home runs in a 7‑2 victory over the Seattle Mariners, are set to continue their momentum when they face Seattle again at Tropicana Field. New All-Star pitcher Nick Martinez, who was added to the All‑Star roster after an injury replacement, has improved to 8‑2 with a 2.65 ERA and will be a key starter in the upcoming series.

Off the field, the Rays honored franchise legend Evan Longoria by retiring his No. 3 jersey at a ceremony in St. Petersburg. Longoria, a former Rays third baseman and the club’s all‑time leader in home runs, RBIs, runs and games played, was inducted into the Rays Hall of Fame during a “Legacy Weekend” event. His number now joins the short list of retired jerseys in Rays history, alongside Jackie Robinson’s No. 42, Wade Boggs’ No. 12 and Don Zimmer’s No. 66.
