Tampa Bay Rays defeat San Diego Padres 5-4 in 11-inning walk-off

The Tampa Bay Rays secured a 5-4 walk-off victory against the San Diego Padres in the 11th inning at Tropicana Field, marking their 14th series sweep of the season, a major league lead.

The game featured a dramatic ninth inning where Jonny DeLuca tied the score at 4-4. DeLuca hit a fly ball toward the left-field wall that appeared to be the final out after Samad Taylor made contact, but the ball popped from Taylor's glove and went over the fence for a two-run home run.

In the bottom of the 11th, Jorge Mateo hit a walk-off single to end the game. Junior Caminero contributed a 440-foot home run earlier in the game, his 37th of the season. Drew Rasmussen pitched six innings for the Rays, while Robbie Ray took the loss for the Padres.
