Tampa breaks ground on new North Tampa fire station
Tampa officials have broken ground on Fire Station 24 in North Tampa, marking progress on a project that faced several years of delays. The 17,000-square-foot facility, located in Greco Park, is designed to improve emergency response times in a rapidly growing area of the city.
The new station will feature four apparatus bays, living quarters, administrative spaces, and a training tower. To ensure resilience against future severe weather, such as the flooding experienced during Hurricane Milton in 2024, the building is being constructed above the 100-year flood plain. The facility is also designed to be fully ADA-accessible.
City Councilman Luis Viera, an advocate for the project, noted that the new station will alleviate pressure on Station 13, which has become one of the busiest stations in the city due to surging call volumes in the North Tampa and Busch Gardens areas.
