Tampa International Airport begins $1.528 billion terminal expansion

Tampa International Airport has begun construction on Airside D, a $1.528 billion, 600,000-square-foot terminal expansion. The project includes 16 new gates designed to accommodate both domestic and international flights.

Delta Air Lines has signed a 20-year anchor agreement for at least six of these gates, which will feature the airport’s first purpose-built Delta Sky Club lounge. The remaining ten gates will provide flexible capacity for other carriers.

The new facility will integrate a dedicated Federal Inspection Services area with Customs and Border Protection processing. This allows for the simultaneous handling of widebody international arrivals and domestic flights. Once completed, the expansion is expected to increase the airport’s total annual capacity to 35 million passengers by 2037.
