Tampa Police classify August shooting as murder-suicide

The Tampa Police Department has classified a shooting on August 21, 2026, in the 3500 block of N. 15th St. as a murder-suicide. Officers responded to a residence where they found a female in her mid-20s with a fatal gunshot wound.

Investigators identified the suspect as 51-year-old Armario Gilbert, who was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and died shortly after. Evidence suggests the two individuals knew each other and that Gilbert shot the woman following a dispute before taking his own life. Three minor children were present in the home during the incident but were not injured. The investigation remains active.
