Tampico expands electric grid and public works with multi‑million peso investments

The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) plans to boost installed capacity in Tampico’s “zona dorada” by building one or two new high‑technology substations. The project aims to meet rising demand and cut power outages, pending budget approval and land acquisition already secured.

The municipal government approved more than 31 million pesos for the third stage of its 2026 public‑works program. Funds will cover concrete paving, hydraulic sanitation upgrades, asphalt resurfacing of 39 blocks, and the construction of eight school roofs. Financing comes from municipal, state (Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya), and federal sources, including the FAIS, FORTAMUN, CAPUFE and the CMIC.

Both initiatives are presented as part of a longer‑term plan to modernize Tampico, improve mobility and utilities, and strengthen urban development for residents.
