Tampico market vendors reject new area delimitations
Approximately 300 merchants at the Mercado Gastronómico de Tampico in Tamaulipas, Mexico, have rejected the installation of tape used to delimit stall areas. Vendors argue that the measure reduces available space for customers and could negatively impact sales during the current vacation season.
Merchant Guadalupe Alonso Villa stated that the local government's claim that the measure was agreed upon with vendors is inaccurate. Beyond the spatial restrictions, merchants are raising concerns regarding building maintenance, specifically citing a dangerous access ramp and a broken forklift that has remained out of service. The group intends to seek a direct dialogue with Mayor Mónica Villarreal Anaya to request the removal of the dividers.
