Tampico officials conclude ‘Poder Sobre Ruedas’ mobility program

Tampico Mayor Mónica Villarreal Anaya and Luz Adriana Villarreal Anaya, President of the DIF Tampico System, led the closing ceremony for the third edition of the ‘Vida Independiente Poder Sobre Ruedas’ course at the Expo Tampico Convention Center.

The initiative aims to enhance independence and safe transport for individuals with motor disabilities. Participants receive specialized wheelchairs designed and built by people with disabilities, specifically engineered to allow for independent movement during ascents and descents without requiring external assistance.

To receive a wheelchair free of charge, participants were required to complete a week of training. During the current administration, the program has benefited 65 people. The event included recognition for Santiago Velázquez Duarte, founder of the international organization Vida Independiente México, as well as support from Grupo Multimodal and Capital Human & Legal.
