Tampico to host 2026 National Encounter of Pueblos Mágicos

Tampico, Tamaulipas, will host the 2026 National Encounter of Pueblos Mágicos from November 26 to 29. The event, presented by Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism Josefina Rodríguez Zamora and Tamaulipas Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya, marks a strategic shift from traditional fairs toward a model focused on community tourism.

The new format aims to direct economic benefits directly to local artisans, traditional cooks, and community service providers. To support this, over 150 community experiences are receiving specialized training. A digital platform launching October 26 will facilitate business networking, with a goal of hosting 10,000 commercial appointments and attracting 200 national and international buyers from countries including the United States, Canada, Spain, Brazil, Colombia, and the United Kingdom.

Regional municipalities are preparing for the influx. Tula plans to host a large-scale cultural celebration featuring the traditional Cuera Tamaulipeca, while Ciudad Mier aims to use the event to showcase its historical and architectural heritage. The event is expected to draw approximately 15,000 daily visitors, with an estimated economic impact between 60 and 70 million pesos.
