Tampico upgrades water supply and historic centre infrastructure
COMAPA Sur has replaced 63.37 kilometres of water and sewage pipes in the Tampico‑Ciudad Madero area between 2023 and July 2026, a rate far above previous administrations. The work targets the most deteriorated sections, reducing leaks and improving reliability for thousands of residents.
Mayor Monica Villarreal Anaya announced a parallel programme to revamp Tampico’s historic centre. The plan includes new lighting on Altamira street, a welcome mural, and the rehabilitation of a park at the street’s entrance. Funding comes from revenues generated by the city’s underground parking system, and a future building‑painting initiative with private partners is also slated.
Both projects aim to modernise essential services and enhance the urban image of Tampico and its neighbouring municipality, Ciudad Madero.
