Tamás Fellegi's company group linked to additional public funds

Investigations into the business dealings of former Hungarian Development Minister Tamás Fellegi have revealed that his company group received an additional 160.7 million forints in public contracts between 2013 and 2022. This follows a separate legal complaint filed by the Prime Minister’s Office regarding a nearly 3 billion forint contract awarded to Fellegi’s American-based firm, EAC International Inc. (now EuroAtlantic Consulting & Investment Inc.).

The Prime Minister’s Office has alleged breach of trust, budget fraud, and abuse of office concerning the 2.9 billion forint agreement. Authorities noted that the contract was signed just three days after the relevant government decision, bypassed public procurement by citing the Covid-19 pandemic despite having no health-related functions, and lacked a market valuation. Furthermore, the government decision authorizing the contract was classified until 2040.

Beyond the disputed 3 billion forint contract, the five additional identified contracts involved regional development, energy innovation, and professional consulting, totaling 143.5 million forints. Additionally, in 2023, EuroAtlantic Zrt. provided sponsorship for Hungarian diplomatic missions abroad.
