Tamworth court proceedings involve separate criminal cases

Two separate criminal matters were addressed in Tamworth courts involving different defendants.

In Tamworth Local Court, Robert John Slater, 35, pleaded guilty to charges of stalking, intimidation, property damage, and breaching an Apprehended Violence Order. The incident occurred in South Tamworth on August 23, involving two complainants. Court documents stated that Slater became emotional following the death of a family member, during which he sharpened knives and damaged property. A charge of being armed with intent was withdrawn following negotiations.

In Tamworth District Court, 22-year-old Connor Hensler was denied a second bail bid. Hensler had previously pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company, destroying property, being armed with intent, common assault, and larceny. The charges related to a three-hour ordeal involving a baseball bat and knife threats. His defense team is preparing a sentence appeal focused on seeking an Intensive Correction Order.
