Tamworth greyhound racing track hits market for $2.7 million

The Tamworth Greyhound Racing Club has officially placed its historic Showground Road property on the market for $2.7 million. The site has served as the home for greyhound racing in Tamworth for approximately 80 years.

Spanning over two hectares in Taminda, the property includes a racing track, a large grandstand, administration and function areas, kennelling facilities, amenities, a ticket office, ample parking, and a self-contained two-bedroom unit. Potential future uses for the site include a rodeo arena, sporting fields, a storage facility, or a commercial subdivision.

The club's decision to sell follows the closure of the track and a plan to relocate to a new racing hub on the outskirts of Tamworth. The club has been maintaining the site using sheep to manage the grass while facing ongoing rates and supply charges without active income.
