Tamworth hosts inaugural City of Lights Festival to boost CBD
The inaugural City of Lights Festival in Tamworth drew thousands of attendees, aiming to reinvigorate the city’s central business district and night-time economy. The event honored the city’s heritage as the first municipality to implement electric street lighting.
Funded by the NSW government’s Regional Night-Time Economy Program and presented by the Tamworth Business Collective, the festival featured illuminated installations in Fitzroy Plaza and Bicentennial Park, alongside lit shopfronts from local businesses.
Following the success of the initial event, a ‘Light Up Late Series’ will be held on the second Friday of October, November, February, and March to maintain momentum and support local commerce.
