Tamworth judge sentences woman to 12-month community sentence

A 22-year-old woman, Emily Grace Hayne, has been sentenced to 12 months in the community by the Tamworth Local Court following domestic violence-related property damage charges.

During the proceedings, Judge Julie Soars refused a request from police to adjourn the matter, noting that the complainants had been subpoenaed but failed to attend. The judge stated that it was not in the interests of justice to delay the case further, expressing concern that an adjournment would not change the outcome.

Hayne admitted to damaging a bathroom mirror cabinet in West Tamworth on May 22 and a caravan window in East Tamworth on August 26, 2025. A common assault charge against her was withdrawn after she entered a denial.
