Tamworth man sentenced for drug supply and possessing imitation pistol

Jason Ali Khan, 55, has been sentenced in Tamworth Local Court following a police investigation into drug supply in the Tamworth district. Khan changed his pleas to guilty on charges including supplying a prohibited drug, recklessly dealing with the proceeds of crime, and possessing an unauthorised pistol.

The charges stemmed from a December 3, 2025, police raid on a property in Nemingha, which resulted in the seizure of suspected stolen goods, weapons, and 26 grams of methylamphetamine. Judge Lucas Swan noted that the quantity of drugs seized was five times an indictable amount.

Evidence presented by police prosecutor Sergeant Kareena Gill included a Luger-style pistol and a Chinese-made cigarette lighter shaped like a pistol. Expert testimony indicated the lighter was ‘almost identical’ to a real firearm in size, grip, trigger, and trigger guard, featuring moveable parts.
