Tamworth Regional Council reports vandalism at Oxley Scenic Lookout
Vandalism is costing councils and property owners in New South Wales more than $300 million annually. Recent incidents have targeted local infrastructure, including the newly opened Skywalk at Oxley Scenic Lookout.
The Tamworth Regional Council reported that a pedestrian counter and sign at the Skywalk's upper entry were smashed, and sections of the structure were defaced with graffiti. The council described the situation as “frustrating and disheartening.”
Similar waves of destruction have previously affected the Tamworth Regional Playground, Oxley Lookout, and Marsupial Park. Repair costs for the playground skywalk alone were estimated at $97,053.
