Tamworth solicitor moves parking fine dispute to Armidale court

Tamworth solicitor Geoffrey William Archer is challenging a parking infringement involving an allegation of unsafe reverse parking at the Tamworth Square shopping centre. The incident reportedly occurred on February 25.

During a hearing in Tamworth Local Court on September 22, Archer raised concerns regarding a potential conflict of interest if the case remained in the local jurisdiction. He noted that because he has practiced in the area for many years and intended to engage former Tamworth judge Roger Prowse for legal services, the regular presiding judge, Julie Soars, might be in conflict.

Visiting Judge Lucas Swan agreed to move the matter to the Armidale Local Court. The case has been listed for a mention in Armidale later this month to establish a hearing date.
