Tamworth to host inaugural City of Lights Festival

Tamworth will host the inaugural City of Lights Festival this weekend, featuring an all-senses light experience across its central business district. The event, scheduled for September 25 and 26, celebrates the city’s history as one of the first in the Southern Hemisphere to implement electric street lighting.

Organized by the Tamworth Business Collective, the festival includes projection art, live music, and First Nations cultural storytelling. Key installations include a laser garden and beacon concepts by Mandylights in Bicentennial Park, alongside projected illustrations at Fitzroy Plaza depicting the history of the city’s lighting transition.
