Tamworth trial hears of alleged petrol bomb threats before home invasion

During a trial at Tamworth District Court, a jury heard testimony regarding alleged threats made prior to a violent home invasion in Spring Ridge. Jamie Allan Clements-Earl, 34, is standing trial for his alleged involvement in a March 5, 2024, attack on a home on Kingston Street, which involved a group break-in, stabbing, and arson.

Witness Joanne Claire Catford-Woods testified that Crown witness Grant Peel had made several extreme comments months before the incident. Specifically, she alleged that Peel stated he could fly over the target house in a glider and drop a ‘Molotov cocktail’ without being detected. Catford-Woods also testified that Peel had previously attempted to light a fire at a relative's house in September 2023.

Clements-Earl has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including aggravated break-and-enter, reckless wounding in company, destruction of property by fire, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
