Tan Kong Sheng Zu Temple celebrates 150th anniversary in Sandakan
The Tan Kong Sheng Zu Temple in Sandakan held a dual celebration marking its 150th anniversary of establishment and the 25th anniversary of its new temple building. To support the event, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor approved a grant of 100,000 Ringgit.
During the celebratory banquet, Member of Parliament Wong Siew Yee highlighted the temple's historical significance as a spiritual home and a symbol of resilience for immigrants who settled in the region over a century and a half ago. She noted that the temple serves as a vital center for local community welfare and cultural preservation.
The event included international delegations from China, Thailand, and Vietnam, as well as various domestic groups, emphasizing the cultural and spiritual ties shared across borders.
