Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone security altercation under investigation

Police in Ho Chi Minh City are investigating an altercation involving security guards at the Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone. The incident, which was captured on video and circulated on social media, occurred on August 7.

The conflict reportedly began after a 37-year-old man, who had been drinking, entered the zone to pick up his wife. Following a dispute with a ride-hailing driver, the man allegedly brandished a knife. Security guards intervened to retrieve the weapon and attempted to manage the man, who was reportedly intoxicated and obstructing traffic. During the ensuing struggle, two security guards allegedly struck the man with their hands, feet, and rubber sticks before transporting him to local police.

Tan Thuan Ward Police, in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Criminal Police Department, have summoned several individuals involved to clarify the circumstances and determine legal responsibilities.
