Tandil and Azul dispute over relocation of vulnerable family

A dispute has escalated between the municipalities of Tandil and Azul regarding the relocation of a vulnerable family of eleven people. The incident occurred on August 13, when the family was transported from Azul to the Tandil train station in an official vehicle.

Tandil Mayor Miguel Lunghi has formally demanded explanations from Azul Mayor Nelson Sombra, criticizing the lack of prior communication or coordination between the social service departments of both cities. Lunghi characterized the procedure as “grave,” noting that the family includes minors and that Tandil had to intervene immediately to provide food, housing, and healthcare. Lunghi requested a detailed report within 48 hours and warned of potential administrative, civil, or criminal actions if a satisfactory response is not provided.

Mayor Sombra has rejected these accusations, stating they “lack factual and legal basis.” While Tandil maintains the core issue is the lack of procedural coordination and failure to assess the family's living conditions upon arrival, Azul has defended the move. Despite the tension, Tandil officials expressed a willingness to participate in a joint working group proposed by Sombra.
