Tanea ‘Rebel’ Brooks appointed first honorary board member of I AM ALS

Tanea ‘Rebel’ Brooks, a professional wrestler known for her work in AEW, has been named the first honorary member of the I AM ALS Board of Directors. This appointment follows her diagnosis with terminal amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in May 2026.

Brooks previously joined the patient-led organization as an ambassador in June. Since her diagnosis, she has utilized her public platform to advocate for increased treatment access and to support the ACT for ALS legislation. I AM ALS credited her efforts with helping draw attention to the legislation prior to the recent extension of the Accelerating Access to Critical Therapies for ALS Act through fiscal year 2031.

I AM ALS CEO Andrea Goodman praised Brooks for converting her diagnosis into immediate advocacy, noting her ability to use her platform and vulnerability to mobilize support for the organization’s mission to find a cure.
