PSSSF warns Tanzanian retirees against pension benefit scams

The Public Service Social Security Fund (PSSSF) has issued warnings to retirees in Tanzania to protect themselves against scammers. Officials are urging retirees to use only official PSSSF channels and digital systems to verify information and track benefits to avoid losing funds.

In Shinyanga, PSSSF Simiyu Regional Supervisor Salum Mwegelo warned that unauthorized individuals are posing as fund agents to solicit sensitive information, such as bank account PINs and personal details, to conduct unauthorized transactions. Mwegelo emphasized that PSSSF does not employ agents to provide these services on behalf of the fund.

In Tanga, Regional Commissioner Dr. Batilda Burian also encouraged retirees to utilize digital platforms to safeguard their benefits. The move aligns with national directives to provide faster, more efficient services. Additionally, PSSSF officials have urged employers to submit information for new employees within 30 days to ensure timely registration.
