Tangará da Serra disputes educator career reclassification

A legal dispute has emerged in Tangará da Serra regarding Law No. 15.326/2026, which concerns the career classification of Child Development Assistants (ADIs). The law aims to grant these early childhood education professionals access to the national teaching career and its corresponding salary floor.

The Mato Grosso Court of Accounts (TCE-MT) has advised mayors across 142 municipalities to ensure compliance with federal legislation. However, the Mayor of Tangará da Serra, Vander Masson, maintains that the municipality is following local laws. He noted that these professionals were hired through public exams specifically for the role of education assistants and argued that municipal regulations prevent the automatic transposition of roles.

The Municipal Attorney General, Pedro Mendes Ferreira, stated that the legal department has identified judicial precedents, including decisions from Supreme Federal Court Minister Gilmar Mendes, suggesting that automatic equalization of roles is not possible due to the distinct legal nature of the original competitive examinations.
