Tangará da Serra teenager drowns in park lake

A 13-year-old boy, Davi Bezerra Silva, died by drowning on Saturday afternoon in a lake at Parque da Família in Tangará da Serra, Brazil. The incident occurred when the teenager, who reportedly did not know how to swim, entered the water to follow two friends attempting to reach an island in the lake.

Witnesses stated that the boy began to submerge approximately 10 to 15 meters from the shore after calling for help. Although bystanders attempted a rescue and the Fire Department conducted searches, the boy's body was recovered at a depth of five to six meters around 6:30 p.m. Emergency medical services performed resuscitation efforts, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the incident, local police noted the absence of municipal employees responsible for the park during the time of the accident. While a night security guard reported that another professional should have been on duty, the individual's whereabouts remained unknown. The Civil Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the drowning and the security protocols at the park.
