Tanger Med adopts closed ticket system for Marhaba 2026

The Tanger Med port authority has implemented a ‘closed ticket’ system—requiring a fixed date and time for departure—as a mandatory condition for port access during the ‘Marhaba 2026’ operation. This measure, which is also being utilized in other Moroccan and Spanish ports such as Tarifa, Nador, Sebta, and Algeciras, aims to regulate passenger flow and ensure smooth transit by aligning arrivals with the maritime fleet's capacity.

Jaafar Aamiyar, the central director of Tanger Med, stated that the system is designed to prevent overcrowding and long waiting times within the port. Passengers, particularly members of the Moroccan diaspora living abroad, are required to confirm their ferry departure times via maritime company websites, apps, or designated rest areas in Tanger Med and Ksar Sghir.

To further facilitate movement, authorities are coordinating with the General Directorate for National Security (DGSN), customs administration, and local officials to reduce border and customs processing times. Travelers are advised to avoid peak periods, specifically weekends and the final week of August, to ensure a more efficient crossing.
