Tanger Med Port manages return of Moroccan diaspora via Marhaba 2026

The Marhaba 2026 operation is entering its second phase as Moroccan expatriates begin returning to their countries of residence following the summer holidays. At Tanger Med Port, authorities have implemented a ‘closed ticket’ system for the second consecutive year to manage passenger flow and prevent congestion.

To facilitate this transition, the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity is operating the ‘Mediterraneo’ rest area near the port entrance. This facility serves as a pre-departure hub where travelers can finalize administrative procedures, confirm ferry departure dates and times, and manage commercial transactions. This system has already assisted nearly 4,000 passengers traveling by bus.

Port officials, including Tanger Med Central Director Jaafar Amayyar, have advised travelers to ensure their tickets have specific dates and times before arriving at the port. Those with open tickets are urged to confirm bookings via maritime companies' digital platforms or customer service to avoid delays. A peak period of high traffic is expected between August 25 and August 29, during which long waiting times may occur.
