Tangerang authorities urge school supervision amid Jakarta protest plans

Authorities in Tangerang Regency and Tangerang City have issued official circulars to schools to increase supervision of students following planned large-scale demonstrations in Jakarta.

In Tangerang Regency, Vice Regent Intan Nurul Hikmah stated that junior high school principals are instructed to monitor student activities closely to prevent them from participating in protests at the DPR RI area in Senayan. The local Education Office emphasized that teachers must monitor attendance regularly and ensure students return home immediately after school hours. Police will also conduct sweeps to prevent students from joining the demonstrations.

Similarly, the Tangerang City Education Office, led by Wahyudi Iskandar, issued a circular for schools ranging from early childhood education (PAUD) to junior high school. The directive urges parents to personally pick up their children after school and prohibits students from using public transportation alone or gathering in groups outside school grounds during the protest period. These measures aim to ensure the safety and security of students during the planned actions on August 27–28.
