Tangerang faces high unemployment among university graduates

Tangerang City is facing a significant challenge with high unemployment rates among university graduates. According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), there are 12,675 unemployed graduates in the city, representing a 7.05 percent unemployment rate among the 179,900 highly educated workforce. This figure is the highest in the Tangerang Raya region, surpassing South Tangerang and Tangerang Regency.

To address this, the Tangerang City Manpower Office (Disnaker) has implemented various vocational training programs, including content creation, entrepreneurship, and specialized training for Gen Z. Key strategies include On The Job Training (OJT) to align graduate skills with industrial needs, as well as support for workers affected by layoffs in the automotive and air conditioning service sectors. Disnaker is also collaborating with educational institutions and industry sectors to organize job fairs and placement opportunities, including potential overseas employment.
