Tangerang Protesters Threaten Skandinavia Mall Closure Over Green Space

The civil alliance Almamater Lima (Aliansi Masyarakat Madani Tangerang Libas Mafia) launched a third‑phase action, warning it will forcibly shut all commercial activity in the Skandinavia shopping area of Tangerang, Indonesia. The protest targets the alleged conversion of 4,550 m² of the Taman Potret public green space (RTH) into commercial use by the mall’s management, Tangcity.

Almamater Lima says Tangcity has been uncooperative, refusing to clarify the land‑use change, and that mediation facilitated by Metro Tangerang police (Kasat Intelkam Kompol Dodi Abdulrohim) has yielded no response. Coordinator Djoko Handoko, known as Djalu, stated the group will close the area unless legal certainty is provided. Their three demands are: condemn Tangcity’s lack of transparency; restore Taman Potret fully as a public green space; and disclose the permit for relocating the Cikokol River segment linked to the city’s spatial plan. The alliance also calls for an immediate halt to all commercial operations in Skandinavia until the status of the land is resolved.
