Tangerang Regency allocates Rp50 billion for flood mitigation
The Tangerang Regency Government has allocated Rp50 billion for flood mitigation and river normalization across 29 sub-districts this year. The Department of Public Works and Water Resources (DBMSDA) is prioritizing densely populated urban areas, including Pasar Kemis, Kelapa Dua, and Pagedangan, to reduce the impact of flooding on residents.
In the Kutabumi 2 area of Pasar Kemis, officials are managing the aftermath of a temporary embankment breach that occurred during a pipe jacking project near Kali Musi. Authorities stated the breach was caused by technical soil conditions rather than human error. To prevent flooding in nearby residential areas, water flow was controlled by closing the Cisadane water gate and opening the Pangadegan gate. Officials confirmed that water levels have receded and did not enter residential neighborhoods.
Planned infrastructure improvements in the region include the installation of 46-meter sheet piles at the Teluk Jakarta housing complex to facilitate smoother water flow through the Cipeangodokan River.
