Tangerang Regency receives national award for free college scholarship program

The Tangerang Regency Government has received a national Pemimpin Daerah Award for its free college scholarship program, known as Beasiswa Tangerang Gemilang. The award was presented in Jakarta by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya to Regional Secretary Soma Atmaja, who represented Regent Moch Maesyal Rasyid.

Bima Arya noted that the scholarship program aligns with central government goals to expand educational access and improve human resource quality in preparation for Indonesia Emas 2045. Soma Atmaja stated that the program aims to ensure economic limitations do not prevent students from pursuing higher education.

In the last two years, the regency has provided free college scholarships to 1,524 students, specifically targeting those from low-income families. The number of recipients is projected to grow, with approximately 350 students sent for higher education in 2025 and a significant increase to 1,174 recipients expected in 2026.
