Tangerang Selatan implements slum revitalization and anti-trafficking measures
The Tangerang Selatan city government is advancing two distinct social and infrastructure initiatives. In the Kranggan area of Setu District, a slum revitalization program is underway to improve local living conditions. The project includes upgrading neighborhood roads with three-dimensional paving blocks, improving drainage systems, and installing solar-powered street lighting. Residents have expressed support for the initiative, with some even donating private land to facilitate road construction to boost local economic activity.
Simultaneously, the local government is strengthening efforts to prevent human trafficking (TPPO). During a coordination meeting, officials emphasized the need for enhanced inter-agency cooperation and public education to combat evolving trafficking methods, such as forced labor, sexual exploitation, and online scamming. Banten province is considered particularly vulnerable due to its proximity to international airports and economic factors that increase the risk of unsafe migration.
