Tangerang strengthens rabies prevention to maintain 14-year disease-free status
The Tangerang City Government is intensifying rabies prevention measures to maintain its 14-year status of being free from the disease. These efforts include continuous pet vaccinations and the strengthening of public health services.
According to Muhdorun, Head of the Tangerang Food Security Agency, the Animal Health Center has vaccinated 842 animals so far in 2025. The city also utilizes a mobile vaccination approach, such as recent free vaccination drives in the Poris Plawad area. To manage potential exposure, the city has established 21 Rabies Centers across various hospitals and community health centers (puskesmas) to treat citizens who experience animal bites or scratches.
