Tangier area sees major hashish seizures by Moroccan authorities
Moroccan Gendarmerie intercepted a large shipment of hashish near Tangier, seizing about 220 kilograms and arresting two suspected traffickers in the Melloussa/Al Burj area. The operation was part of ongoing efforts to curb drug routes that pass through the region.
In a separate incident at the Bab Sebta crossing to the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, Moroccan customs and security services stopped a car carrying 32.4 kilograms of hashish hidden in its wheels. A 22‑year‑old driver, a Moroccan citizen with Spanish residency, was detained and handed over to the anti‑drug brigade for further investigation. Both cases highlight intensified border controls and anti‑trafficking measures around Tangier.
