Tangier terrorist suspect prepared explosives and remote detonators

Forensic analysis by Morocco's National Forensic Police Laboratory has revealed the advanced stage of a terrorist plot involving a 22-year-old suspect arrested in Tangier on October 9. The suspect, believed to be loyal to ISIS, was apprehended by the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) in coordination with local police.

Laboratory tests confirmed the suspect possessed a wide array of chemical precursors and materials for manufacturing high-potency explosives, including TATP (acetone peroxide), urea nitrate, and chlorate. Investigators also seized nails and screws intended for use as shrapnel to maximize casualties.

Technological evidence showed the suspect had modified a mobile phone with electronic circuits to function as a remote detonation system. Digital forensics further indicated that the suspect had conducted experimental explosions and possessed manuscripts detailing cyberattack techniques, suggesting a dual-threat capability involving both physical violence and digital disruption.
