Tangles animated film premieres at Toronto International Film Festival

The animated feature “Tangles,” directed by Leah Nelson, is premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival. Based on Sarah Leavitt’s autobiographical graphic novel, the film explores the emotional impact of Alzheimer’s disease on a family.

The story follows Sarah, voiced by Abbi Jacobson, as she returns to her hometown in Maine to care for her mother, Midge, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus. The narrative details the family's struggle with the diagnosis and the challenges of caretaking. The film features an ensemble voice cast including Bryan Cranston, Samira Wiley, Beanie Feldstein, and Seth Rogen, who also served as a producer.

Developed since 2013, the project has previously received significant attention at the Cannes Film Festival and the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. IFC has acquired the film for an upcoming awards-qualifying run.
